Root modification

Root modification with examples? Root modification : In some plants root change they shape and structure to perform functions. Other than absorption and conduction of water and minerals is called Root modification.  The radicle of embro elongates leads to formation of primary root which grows into the soil is called Root.  In angiosperms, two types of root system are present namely.  1.tap root system 2.fiborous root system.  1.Tap root system: The primary root grows into soil called Tap root.  Which produce lateral roots and roots lets constitutes tap root system.  It is seen in Dicotyle-donous-plant. 2.Fibrous root system: The primary root is a short lived and replaced by a large number of roots.  Which  originate from base of the stem constiuent Fibrous root system. It is seen in Monocotyledonous plants.  Root modification are different types.  They are: Storage roots: In carrot, turnip(tap roo...

Scope of botany

Comprehensive account on the scope of botany in different fields? Ans: Agriculture: Enhancement of crop yield through green revolution solves the problem like decreaseing resources and increaing population. New plant breeding techniques are useful to develop hybrid varieties in crop plants like rice, maize, wheat, sugarcane ect.  Horticulture: Tissue culture experiments are helpful to produce large number of plants in the laboratory within a short period.  Phtopathology is helpful in prevention and eradication of several plant diseases.

Uses and dis uses of fungi in our daily life

Image
Role of fungi in our daily life Uses Yeast are used to make bread and beer.  Some fungi penicillium are the source of antibiotics (penicilin). Some fungi like Agaricus are edible mushrooms. Disuses Some fungi cause rot of orange fruits.  Spoilage of bread.  White spots are seen in mustard leaves by album.  Some fungi(Puccinia) cause rust in wheat.             Thank you for seeing             If any doubts please comment                   Have a nice day

What is dinoflagellates?

Image
Brief account of dinoflagellates? Ans: Dinoflagellates are mostly marine and photosynthetic.  The cell wall has stiff cellulite plates on the outer surface.  They have two flagella and produce spinning movements. So protests are called whirling wipe.  The nucleus has condensed chromosomes, which are without histones.  Some dinoflagellates like noctiluca show bioluminescence.  Red dinoflagellates like Gonyaulax undergo rapid multiplication and make the sea appear red[Resides in Mediterraneliansea]. Toxins produced by them may kill fishes.

Sailent features and importance of chrysophytes.

Image
Silent features and importance of chrysophytes? Ans: Chrsophytes i doatoms and golden algae.  They are found in fresh water as well as in marine water. Most of them are photosynthetic.  In diatoms the cell wall form two thin overlapping shells, epithet over hypothetical which fit together as soap box.  The walls are embedded with silicon and thus the walls are indestructible.  Diatoms leave large amount of cell wall deposits in there habitat, this accumulation referred as diatomaceous earth or kieselghur.  They reproduce a sex ally by vinay fusion and sex ally by games.  Important : *The diatomaceous soil is used in polising, filtration of oils and syrup. *Diatoms are the chief`producers'in the oceans. Characterstic features ofEuglenoids.

Image
What are the characterstic features of euglenoid? Ans: Most of the euglenoids are fresh water organises found in stagnantwater.  They have a protien rich layer called pellicle which make body flexible. They have two flagella, a short and a long one.  The anterior part of the cell bears an invagination consisting of cytostome, cytopharynx and reservoir. Eye spot or photosensitive stigma is present in the reservoir.  They behave as heterotrophs when deprived in sunlight.  The reproduction is by longitudnal vinay fussing. What is binomial nomenclature?

Image
Explain binomial nomenclature? Ans: *Naming the plants with two words is called binomial nomenclature. *This system was given by Carols Linnaeus Naming is done by following some rules. Bilogical names are generally in Latin but written in italics.  The first word represent the Genis while the second word represents with species.  Both the words, when handwritten, are separately underlined The first should start with capital letter while the second word should start with small letter. The name of the author should be at the end of scientific name in abbreviated form.              Ex:Mango           Generic name:Mangifera          Specific epithet:indica
